Cricket 07
Cricket fans remain disappointed in the gaming department. The lack of cricket simulation games has been running in our mind and Cricket 07 though worth to play is not up to the expectations. The game is target mainly for gamers in cricket playing nations such asIndiaandPakistan. The game was released by EA Sports in 2006 starring English all rounder Andrew Flintoff in the cover.
The gameplay is quite addictive for cricket lovers. The drawback is the absence of the wide variety of shots. It clearly shows EA Sports doesn’t care much about cricket like they do in soccer games. The shots and the players are not analyzed properly and every batsman plays the same shots. The celebrations during wicket falls get bored after few hours. The commentary is sluggish and sounds illogical at times.
The positive note is that there are many real time venues and stadiums available for play. The player selects the pitch type and climate. After the usual toss the player starts the match. It is possible to simulate a portion or a complete innings if the gamer doesn’t like to bowl each and every ball. The game mode consists of world championship where the teams can compete for the world cup or a simple world series involving only a few teams. Renowned series such as Ashes Test Series have been included to excite cricket fans.
The game also features the Australian state county and the English county teams. The major set back is that EA Sports haven’t obtained the license of major teams likeIndia,Pakistan,Sri LankaorWest Indies. These team names are generic and can be changed by the user in the game options. Another innovation is the use of licensed bats and kits during the gameplay. Cricket 07 has not got much to offer for those who have already played Cricket 03 but die hard cricket fans would definitely go for it.
