Dead Space
Visceral Games succeeds in developing a action based horror game with an amazing story line. Though so many developers have attempted build a game with the same formula very few succeeded in doing so. Dead Space is definitely one such great game that has hit the stores recently.
The player handles the role of Isaac Clarke, an engineer who fights against invading groups of aliens that convert humans into monsters termed as Necromorphs in the game. The story line is thrilling and the audio quality is highly rated and matches with the twists and turns of the game.
“Terrific” is the right word to describe the gameplay. It resembles watching a horror movie alone in a multiplex and you playing the central role would definitely be nerve cracking. There are some portions in the game where you need to hold your nerves to get through. The background music adds much more horror feeling to the game.
A new concept called “Strategic dismemberment” has been introduced in the game where the player needs to use his head to defeat the enemies because mere shooting is no way going to be helpful against the aliens. The player needs to find out quick ways of killing the enemies. There are some locations where the player needs to aim and some where he shouldn’t. For example some aliens release more Necromorphs when shot at the stomach. So its better to avoid such dangerous spots during gameplay.
The weapon pack involves most of industrial tools keeping in mind Isaac is an engineer and not a soldier or a super hero. Some the weapons are flamethrower, rotary saw and torches. The game definitely delivers a nail biting experience and is a must for horror game lovers. The game was awarded the best game of the year 2008 by gamespot.
